Folklife Redux and Orange Doc Martins
I went back to the Folklife Festival today, with company this time--
norabombay and
ase, who'd stayed the night after WSFA. They had a couple more boats and such lying around then were there last weekend. And I do mean lying around. There isn't any water near the Mall, so any boats brought in for the Mid-atlantic Maritimes section were all on trailers. I didn't get any good pictures; there's just something sad about seeing boats standing around on trailers with all their sails down, makes me disinclined to photograph them.
They also had a cannon!
It's so cute! I wanted to steal it and take it home *g* I'm sure we could have found a place for it! I mean, it's barely bigger than the dog! Wouldn't it look great set up in the corner??
*covets*
They also had an assortment of stuff for kids to do. This rather reminded me of
damned_colonial's Sailing School for Slashers.
Not the best picture, but it's Sail Boat Twister, with all the different boat parts and sail names as the squares.
I also took the opportunity to break in my new Docs a bit. I am soooo in love with these shoes, btw, it's been way too long since I had a great pair of docs. I promised
commodorified I'd post pics of them, so I had
norabombay snap a couple pics before I threw myself into the shower. Damn was it HOT today.
Well, that was supposed to be a picture of the shoes, but the Tucker felt that he was being ignored. You can kind of see them though, and my new $10.00 jeans.
Here's a close-up where you can actually see the shoes. If I'd had to pick I'd have gotten something that came up a little higher, but the color is Perfect and really, for $17.00, I'm not complaining.
Now I have a gloriously plan-free evening ahead of me.
norabombay is off being defeated by some new Video game. I can't decide if I should watch Iris or In America or read some more of Busman's Honeymoon, which I started this morning. Probably a little of both I think. And maybe a margarita. On a whim I picked up some Tequila on the way home from work yesterday. I have to admit, Tequila and Sayers is a rather odd combo, but then again, I'm a rather odd girl.
